These communities, which include homes, apartments or condominiums, are for the senior who wants to maintain an independent lifestyle.

Congregate Care

This type of facility provides private living quarters, and services include centralized dining and activities. Many offer transportation, spiritual programs and rehabilitative services.

Assisted Living Facilities

Such facilities are for seniors who need regular help with activities of daily living but do not need nursing attendant & personal care. Seniors receive lodging and personal support services like meals, housekeeping and laundry.

Nursing and Convalescent Homes

These are long-term care facilities for patients who require nursing, custodial and other care.

Continuing Care Retirement Communities

Also known as life care communities, these provide services that range from housekeeping to skilled nursing care by contract, usually for the rest of the resident's life.
